The Wayward Palate reviews fine wines of originality from winemakers using esoteric, individual and sometimes unorthodox methods to create truly distinctive wines against the backdrop of an increasingly homogenised wine culture. Recondite, unique and sometimes divisive, The Wayward Palate seeks to shine a light on little-known discoveries for those who thought they knew all there was to know when it comes to wine.

As this site does not wish to express bias or preference, all reviews are made anonymously and we would politely direct you to if you are interested in buying any of the wines featured. While many of these wines are made in small quantities and can be difficult to track down, nearly all have some international representation. Also, wines are not scored or given a numbered rating. All wines reviewed are considered exceptional in their own way otherwise they would not be featured.
